(*Μαιωτίδαι), die Anwohner des Mäotischen Sees, die Mäotiden, Vopisc. Aur. 16, 4 u. Tac. 13, 3. – c) Maeōtis (Mēōtis), idis od. idos, Akk. im, Akk. Plur. idas, f. (Μαιῶτις), zu den Mäotern oder zum Mäotischen See gehörig, mäotisch, ora, Ov.: Penthesilea, vom Mäotischen See, Prop.: ara, der taurische, Iuven. – Plur. subst., Maeotides peltiferae, die Amazonen, die am Tanais wohnten, Sabin. ep. 2, 9. – insbes., Maeotis palus od. lacus, der Mäotische See, j.
