aphaeresis, is, f. (ἀφαίρεσις), die Wegnahme, Kürzung, eine gramm. Figur, wenn ein Buchstabe oder eine Silbe zu Anfang eines Wortes weggelassen wird (wie lauda st. alauda), Prob. de ult. syll. 263, 7 u.a. Gramm.
