Abl. des Neutr. quod u. quid), I) indef.: A) örtlich, irgendwohin, si quo erat prodeundum, Cic.: ne quo incĭderem, Cic. – B) modal, irgendwie, si quo intentius possit, Liv. 4, 1, 5: si quo usui esse posset, Liv. 40, 26, 8. – II) relat.: A) örtlich: 1) eig.: a) bei den Zeitwörtern des Seins u. der Ruhe, wo, quo loci = quo loco, Cic. – b) bei den Zeitwörtern der Bewegung u. Richtung, wohin, vom Orte, v. Pers. od. Sachen, ad partem provinciae venturum, quo te velle arbitrarer, Cic.: apud eos, quo se contulit etc. = ad quos, Cic. – m. Genet., quo gentium, quo terrarum, wohin in der Welt, zB. Ch. sequere hāc me, faxo iam scies. Ni. Quo gentium (wohin in aller Welt)? Ch. Tres unos passus, Plaut. Bacch. 831 sq.: non hercle quo hinc nunc gentium aufugiam scio, Plaut. rud. 824: sese tacitos abire, quo terrarum possent, in animo habuisse, Liv. 39, 54, 8. – 2) übtr.: a) zur Bezeichnung des Grades, wie weit, bis zu welchem Grade, m. Genet., qui mihi ne hodie quidem scire videmini, quo amentiae progressi sitis, wie weit in der usw., Liv. 28, 27, 12. – b) zur Bezeichnung des Endzweckes, wozu, quo tantam pecuniam? Cic.: Martis signum quo mihi etc.? wozu soll mir die Statue? Cic.: quo mihi fortunam? wozu soll mir das Glück? Hor. – B) kausal: 1) weil, als wenn, non quo ipse audieris, Cic.: non eo (deswegen) dico, quo mihi veniat in etc., Cic. – 2) bei Compar., um was, je, m. folg. eo od. hoc, Cic., Caes. u.a.: u. ohne entsprechendes eo, Cic., Caes. u. Liv. – 3) quo (als Abl. v. quod) wodurch, woher, weswegen, daher, deshalb, Cic.: quo factum est, Nep.: dah. damit, auf daß, Ter. u. Ov.: quo gravior viderere, auf daß du, damit du desto usw., Cic.: auch bl. daß, nach efficere, Liv.: nach causa, daß, warum, weswegen, in causa esse, quo serius etc., Liv.: dah. quo minus, daß nicht, nach den Verben u. Ausdrücken des Verhinderns = daß od. = zu m.
